She was employed for 35 years at Gulf Life Insurance now American General as a senior claims approver. She was a faithful member of Calvary Temple First Assembly of God where she assisted her husband as a Deacon's wife, and was the senior adult teacher and most recently a member of Oceanway Assembly of God.
She is predeceased by her 5 brothers; her daughter, Annette Pickett; her husband of 62 years, John D. Carr. She is survived by her son, Gerald and his devoted wife Esther; grandchildren Erica Carr and Jonathan Carr and his girlfriend, Pam Johnson and many nieces and nephews to include Ray and Betty Longino and Johnny and Sherry Stephens.
Christine was a very good mother-in-law to Esther, whom she taught to be a good Southern cook and a tremendous grandmother to Jonathan and Erica.
Home Going services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. with Pastor Ken Barney and Pastor Danny Baggett officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. There will be a receiving of friends and well wishers at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 9, in the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home Chapel at 1426 Rowe Ave. until we all get tired of each other and just go home.
