Kathy was raised in Gastonia, attending Gaston County Schools and Flint Groves Baptist Church with her grandmother.
She married her next door neighbor, Neal Barkley, whom she loved deeply. Together, they attended Faith United Methodist Church and Stowe Memorial Church. Kathy was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a caregiver to Neal during his lengthy illness. She was known for her outgoing personality and beautiful smile. She was a caring and graceful lady who enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 46 years, Talmadge Neal Barkley, Kathy was preceded in death by an infant son, Talmadge Scott Barkley; and brother, Darrell Lytton.
A private family committal service will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia is serving the family of Mrs. Barkley.
