Alfred was this contributors great great grandfather. He was the sixth of ten children born to John & Hannah (Cunningham) Kimble. On January 19, 1854 he married Phoebe Alice Shirk and they too were the parents of ten children. During the War Between the States he served in Captain Michael Mallow's company of the Pendleton County, West Virginia, Home Guard from July 01, 1864 until March 30, 1865. His cause of death is not known (to me) but since he was 85 years old when he died advanced age is considered likely to have played a role in his death.
