Called by his nickname, "Red" Adams was assigned to Station 18. The night of the incident he was the driver for Engine 18. A call was dispatched to a small fire in the closet of a home located at 2840 Lidstone. He was actually standing outside the home close to the fire truck when he was noticed laying on the ground. Having suffered a heart attack attempts to revive him were not successful. A physician that was on the scene and lived close by pronounced him dead.
