Luther Leo Brashears, age 82, of Graham, TX, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Merrill Gardens. Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 17, at the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edgar Jones of Graham and the Rev. Jerry Blake, minister of music at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mr. Brashears was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Graham, TX, to the late Homer and Hattie B. (Reed) Brashears. He married Pattie Lee Bryan Oct. 6, 1946, in Graham. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1995.
Mr. Brashears was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having achieved the rank of first lieutenant. He served during World War II, when he flew the Hump in the CBI. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, CBI Hump Pilots Association and retired from Hexcel Corp. after 21 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Bishop and husband Knox of Graham, a sister, Lucille Tiffin of Graham; a brother, Alan Dale Brashears of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Arian Allen and Ariel Bishop; and a great-grandson, Logan Allen.
