Isla L. Doornbos, 94, of Riverside died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at her home.

Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 11, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma with Rev. John Sternaman and Rev. Stephen Small officiating. The Coloma Order of the Eastern Star #307 will conduct their rites at the service. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Davidson Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Riverside United Methodist Church or Hospice at Home.

Isla was born on December 18, 1915 in Jamestown Township, MI to Richard and Mary Brummel. She married her husband, Ray Doornbos, on November 25, 1939 in Jamestown and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1999. Together they celebrated close to 60 years of marriage. She was a member and active on many boards at the Riverside United Methodist Church. Isla was also a life member of the Coloma Order of the Eastern Star #307. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Isla always had a smile on her face but could be stubborn when she was true to her Dutch heritage.

She is survived by her children, Robert Doornbos of Coloma, Marilyn (James) Nord of Watervliet, Elaine Cullinan of Chicago, and Mary (Gary) Richmond of Hartford, her son-in-law, Leonard Seymour of Watervliet, her 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Seymour in 1993 and Marcia Cook in 2007, a brother, Raymond Brummel in 1982, and a grandson, Allen Disbrow in 1985.
