Robert Paul Hammons, Jr, 79 of Gadsden, Ala, was born in Etowah County. He was a member of the class of 1952 of Etowah High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served with the Naval Aviation Unit during the Korean War. His working career began in the Aerospace industry with Lockheed in Georgia and Martin Marietta with the Titan Missile program in Colorado and California. After many years in the Aerospace Industry, he changed careers and joined the Pillsbury Company, retiring as Regional Sales Manager in 1989 and returned to Gadsden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clenzie Hammons; daughter, Pamela Dunn; sisters, Mary Garner, Carolyn Cornutt; brother, Benny Hammons; survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Juanita; daughter, Debra Herrera; son, Robert Hammons; grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Cook, Diane Hundley; brother-in-law, Bill Cornutt; nieces, nephews; and special pet, "Little Bit."
