He was born Dec. 2, 1948, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Henry and Barbara McPherson Hatlen. He married Sherry Holley in 1973 in Carlinville.
Mr. Hatlen owned and operated Ed's Towing in Carlinville for 25 years and was a laborer for 20 years. He was a member of Cooksville, Wis., Lutheran Church.
Survivors: wife, Sherry; two sons, Tom and Coady Hatlen, both of Carlinville; daughter, Tammy Albracht of Carlinville; three grandchildren; mother, Barbara Hyland of Evansville, Wis.; brother, Douglas (wife, Vonnie) Hatlen of Evansville; sister, Judy Hatlen (companion, Gary Wiser) of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Heinz Funeral Home, Carlinville, the Rev. Martin Miller officiating. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, rural Carlinville.
