Iris Yerks, of Ossining, New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 6, 2013 in Lexington, Kentucky.
Iris was born on April 19, 1929, graduated from Ossining High School in New York and married her long time love and husband of 62 years, General Robert George Yerks, on June 10, 1951.
Iris's accomplishments are impressive and extensive. A superb Army wife, she bore the incredible responsibility of raising 10 children during two wars and countless deployments. Her extraordinary strength coming from her great love of life, family, friends and God. She was truly a Saint by any definition of the word.
Iris has 5 sons: Robert, Frank, Gary, Thomas and David, 5 daughters: Roberta, Virginia, Irene, Patricia and Caroline and 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Oldham Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, KY.
Funeral Services at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in Richmond, KY with Fr. Jim Sichko officiating.
Final internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a date/time to be announced.
