FORMER RESIDENT JOSEPH A. WILHELM DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Joseph A. Wilhelm, 72, of Monterey Park, CA died Sunday, September 12, 2004 in the Los Angeles County Home in Montebello.

He was born January 4, 1932 in Randolph the son of Walter J. and Mary Hazzard Wilhelm.

A veteran of the Korean conflict, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp from January 31, 1951 to January 30, 1954. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He retired from Bell Air Patrol in Beverly Hills, CA where he was a sergeant watch commander. In earlier years he had been employed by Mohawk Airlines and MRC Bearings in Falconer. He also piloted for many area parachute clubs.

He is survived by his companion Gizella Szep with whom he made his home; and a brother, Robert Wilhelm of Jamestown.

Burial was in the East Randolph Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Van Rensselaer & Son Funeral Home.
