Raymond J. Stroik, 86, Wittenberg, died on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1925, in the Township of Germania, Shawano County, the son of the late Julian and Julia (Wierzba) Stroik.

Ray was a US Army Veteran serving during World War II in Japan. He was a member of the Elderon Memorial Post #8068 VFW.

On Sept. 21, 1953, Ray was united in marriage to Patricia Hintz at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. She survives.

Ray worked at Briggs & Stratton, Milwaukee and the couple also farmed the family farm in the township of Germania. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galloway and its Men's Society of which he was a former president. Ray enjoyed the Milwaukee Brewers, cutting wood, but especially enjoyed deer hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; their children, Paul (Kari) Stroik, Whiting, Michael (Julie) Stroik, Joseph (Cindy) Stroik, and Charmayne (Mike) Paap, all of Wittenberg, Pamela (Mark) Smith, Saukville, Lorraine Skibba, Junction City, John (Mary) Stroik, Waldo, Monica (Todd) Abt, Ringle, Frank Stroik, Rosholt, Samuel (Kristi) Stroik and Sally Stroik, both of Schofield; 26 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Emily Filtz, Sugar Camp and Victor Stroik, Oak Creek.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a child in infancy, Maryann; three grandsons, Timothy Stroik, Raymond Skibba and Noah Kedrowski; siblings, Tony, Frank, Felix, Stanley, Leo, Walter and Esther Steinke.

The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galloway. The Rev. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW.
