Emma Josephine (Shannon) Malone, 59 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2005, surrounded by her loved ones at Edward Hospital.
Josephine was born July 25, 1945 in Chicago, IL to the late Detroyee Porter Shannon and Minerva Wade.
Josephine accepted Christ at an early age at St. John A.M. E., Aurora, IL. She attended East Aurora High School and was employed as a bus driver for Richlee Vans. Her caring nature was shared with many. She always placed others' needs before her own, including her children, family and friends.
Josephine was united in Holy Matrimony to John C. Malone in 1963, to this union was born four children.
She leaves to cherish in her memory three sons, David (Annette)Cobb, Bloomington, IL, Darwin Malone, Grand Rapids, MI, and Walter Malone of Aurora, IL; four daughters, Dana Malone, Aurora, IL, Lisa (Malone) Moore, Aurora, IL, Felicia (Arlondo) Bowen, Denver, CO, and Nichole Malone of Aurora, IL; a special mother, Lorena Shannon, St. Albans, NY; three brothers, Walter (Jackie) Shannon, Coram, NY, JohnWilly (Linda) Shannon, Aurora, IL, and Michael (Donna) Shannon of Canadensis, PA; one sister, Deidre Shannon of West Hempstead, NY; one sister-in-law, Mabel Shannon of Chicago, IL; a special daughter-in-law, Angela Cobb of Chicago, IL; a special cousin, Minerva Olivia Shaver of Phoenix, IL; her beloved twenty-one grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a special nephew, Charles Williams; a special niece, Joyce Williams both of Aurora, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Detroyee Porter Shannon and Minerva Wade; three brothers, Oliver Edmonds, Joseph Batchelor, Arthur B. Shannon; grandparents, Walter and Ruth Shannon; and one special granddaughter, Terra Shyanne Lorena Malone.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Gayles Memorials Missionary Baptist Church, 730 Gillette Ave., Aurora, IL, Servant George Rayford will officiate with interment at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2005 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Ms. Malone will lie in state, Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gayles Memorial M.B. Church.
