He was employed by D&K Coal Co. with 10 years' service, was a retired Army Master Sgt., member of Hope Baptist Church, Frametown, where he was an assistant Sunday school teacher for the Adult Class, member of the choir, and member of Baptist Men's Fellowship.
Surviving: wife, Shirley Jean Davis Brown of Frametown; daughters, Angela D. Turpin of Virginia, Cynthia A. Wilson of Gassaway, Patricia L. Ward of Fayetteville, N.C., Christa L. McDivitt of Sutton, Dawn S. Brown at home; sons, Earl T. Brown of Raleigh, N.C., Gary E. Welch II of Akron, Ohio; sister, Crisalena Cook of Clintonville; 12 grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hope Baptist Church, Frametown, with the Rev. Ronal Williams and the Rev. Bobby Goldsburg officiating. Burial will be in Boggs Cemetery, near Sutton.
