Son of Thomas Albert Gilkey and Minerva Elizabeth (Sizemore) Gilkey.

Born in Christian Co., son of Thomas Albert and Elizabeth Sizemore Gilkey.

Lived in the Brick Church community since he was 12 yrs. old and farmed the same farm throughout his lifetime.

Survivors: two brothers, J. M. Gilkey and C. G. Gilkey both of Christian Co.; a half-brother, J. C. Gilkey of Christian Co.; three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Chapman and Mrs. Cora Knight, both of the county and Mrs. G. L. Weaver of Hopkinsville; several nieces and nephews.

Services: Friday 19 January 1956, burial in Brick Church Cemetery [Sinking Fork Bap. Ch. Cemetery]. Keightley Funeral Home.

He signed a WWI draft registration card September 12, 1918 at Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky giving his date of birth as December 23, 1879. Description: age 38, medium height, slender build, color of eyes: light, color of hair: light. His address was 5 Hopkinsville. He was working there as a farmer for T. A. Gilkey [his father] who was also named as his nearest relative. Albert signed with his "x" --- Albert William [His X Mark] Gilkey, witnessed by by J. F. Murphy who was the Registrar.
