WALCOTT, Iowa - Hilda V. Dean, a resident of Walcott, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dean was employed many years as a machine operator at Nichols Homeshield, Davenport. She retired in 1977. After that, she worked two years with the Scott County Visiting Homemakers. She was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Nashville, Iowa, to Henry and Augusta Korner. She married Dillon A. Dean in 1933. He died April 10, 1978. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Durant Volunteer Ambulance Service. Survivors include her companion, Harold Clemons, Walcott; her daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Wayne Plett, Blue Grass; her grandchildren, Vicki Wallace, Acworth, Ga., Terrie English, Rock Island, Dennis Skriver, Davenport, and Keith Plett, Blue Grass; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Skriver; six sisters; and two brothers.
