Charles Goodall (1824-1899) was born in Somerset, England, served for two years in the California State Assembly and co-founded the shipping company Goodall, Nelson and Perkins.

Death of Captain Goodall
San Francisco, July 13.—A dispatch was received in this city today announcing the death in Draycott, England, of Captain Charles Goodall, senior member of the firm of Goodall, Perkins & Co. of this city. The dispatch did not go into particulars, but it is presumed that the well-known steamship man was taken ill suddenly, for at last accounts he was enjoying his usual good health.
