Joanna was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann (Friedline) Sipe of Milford Township, Somerset County, PA. Annie was married to Joseph R. Young. She was survived by her husband and four children, Ella May, Robert L., Bertha, and Anna Elizabeth Young.

The family lived at 72 Tustin Street in Pittsburgh in 1880 along the Monongahela River near the glass factories. Mr. Young was a "puddler" in the mill.

Mrs. Young died of typhoid fever November 30, 1881. The death record shows she was buried in Oakland Cemetery in Pittsburgh which was moved in the 1940s to the Mt. Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw by Pitt University to build a field house.

The death record gives her age at 36 in 1881 which gives a birth year of 1845. The 1850 and 1860 census has birth year of about 1844. The 1880 census date may be in error.

Mt. Royal Cemetery personnel confirmed Anna Young, 1881, is buried in the Oakland Section, Lot 68 C, grave 2, single, with no monument. The caretaker said the grave was moved from Oakland for the University to build a stadium.
