United States Marine; fought in the battle of Guadalcanal with D Company, Second Marines; guard duty in California and Oregon, then Iwo Jima as a mortar gunner with HQ, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines.

Cordon was killed in action on Iwo shortly before his battalion was to board transports to leave the island.
