When she married John William Shaw, he found work as an engineer on the Great Northern Railroad and they moved to Minot, North Dakota. There their daughter, Marion, and then the twins, Eugene and Genevieve, were born. After her husband passed away, she and her daughter, Marion, lived in Chicago. In her later years she lived near Zanesville, Ohio, to be close to her son's family. Welthy was buried in Chicago to be near her daughter, Marion, who had predeceased her. Her husband, John William Shaw, passed away in Minot, North Dakota. He was buried in Minot and his gravestone has both his name and Welthy's name engraved on it (see photo).
