Donald Lewis Grohman Lansing Donald passed away on January 20, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born on September 19, 1925 to Francis and Lottie (Hough) Grohman in Lansing, MI. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II as a radio operator on the USS LSM(R) 194. After returning from WWI, he graduated from Michigan State University. He married Mary Lou LaHaie on September 13, 1947. They were married for 61 years before her death in 2009. He worked at Abrams Aerial Survey as a photogrammetrist for over 40 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of Lansing Northwest Kiwanis, serving as president in 1975-1976. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lou; and his infant son, Kenneth Grohman in 1954. He is survived by his daughter, Christine (Alex) Schram of Owosso, MI; son, David Grohman of Lansing, MI; granddaughter, Silver Nichols of Winnemucca, NV; great-granddaughter, Taylor Bree; sister, Romaine (Paul) Jones of Baton Rouge, LA; and several nieces and nephews. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, Tiger baseball, MSU football and basketball, reading and gardening. Funeral Service is 1:30 PM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing with Pastor James E. Robinson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Tiffany Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Deepdale Memorial Park. Donations in Donald's memory may be made to Ele's Place or to the Capital Area Humane Society. The family is being served by Tiffany Funeral Home.
