Mary Lee Hopkins passed peacefully on January 3, 2013 in Reston, VA.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 12, 1928, the daughter of Winfield H. Emlet and Janet McDowell Emlet.

Her brother was the late Winfield Emlet, Jr. She was the beloved wife of James P. Hopkins III and the devoted mother of James P. Hopkins IV (Kay) and Janet Hopkins Davis (Tom). She was the loving grandmother of Joanne Hopkins, Jeff Hopkins, Frank Hopkins, Phil Davis, Steven Davis, and Catherine Davis.

Mary Lee graduated from Dickenson College in 1950. She then married her college sweetheart, Jim Hopkins. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, she served as a research assistant with the Federal Government for 10 years before retiring in 1993. She was a life-long avid member of the United Methodist Church. Other long-term interests included playing bridge, dancing, traveling, and socializing with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on January 12, at 2 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Va. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery.
