Ross John Ackerman, 90, of Griswold, passed away November 14, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Ross was the son of John Ross and Mable Alta Fleming Ackerman, born on April 12, 1911 in Pleasant Township east of Griswold, Iowa. When he was a small child the family moved west of Lewis, Iowa where he attended a rural school and graduated from the Lewis High School in 1928. Ross farmed with his father and moved to Griswold in 1932. His marriage to Velma Bees took place May 24, 1934 at Velma's parents' home near Lewis. They lived in Griswold and farmed until retiring. Ross was a former member of the Telephone Board, Lions club and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. Surviving are his (omitted due to privacy).
Services will be on Saturday, November 17, 2001, at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic with Pastor Allen D. Hellwege officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
