Louise was born in 1851 in France the daughter of Jean Baptist Petitjean and Justine Piquet. She came to America on May 23, 1854 and first settled in Great Barrington Massachusetts and then Connecticut before moving to Loramie Twp, Shelby County Ohio. She married Eugene Smith in 1875. She had three children Gusta, Mary E. (married Frank Whitman Raney) and Laura. They moved to Kansas for a while before finally setting in the Spokane area. BIrth records have birth Aug. 7, 1847.
