To my dear John Talkington, my step gr. gr. grandfather from the records of your life and your Civil War pension, so much has been learned, and you can now rest with dignity in the city where you lived. You are a freedom fighter and my hero, as you fought for your nation and your freedom. Rest in peace.

Headstone Photo was taken by Tonia Holleman. The Memorial Stone was a project of Angela Y. Walton-Raji and Tonia Holleman to all the Arkansas USCT's who fought in the Civil War who needed a permanent resting in Arkansas. They were granted plots by the Fairview Cemetery Board and the City Administrators. A final resting place was given to them at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas Crawford county in the United States Colored Troops (USCT) memorial section of the cemetery.

For any additional information contact Tonia Holleman at toniaH904@aol.com.
