As a boy, Henry attended District #38 school near his home and finished his schooling there. Upon completion of this segment of his life, he continued on the farm until his retirement in 1956 when he moved into Marshall, Minnesota.
At Pine River, Minnesota on December 26, 1918, he and Olive Tibbits were married. To this union were born five daughters, three of whom survive. Twin daughters died infancy. Mrs. Olive Matthews died on May 30, 1934.
At Lake Benton, Minnesota on October 28, 1941 he and Jessie Smith were married; too this union one son was born.
During most of his life, Henry led a most active routine. He was primarily interested in his church, the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marshall, Minnesota. In his church he served as the church's treasurer, lay leader of the congregation, served on the building committee, had been a steward and a trustee. All of these were over a period of many years. He had been a member of the Farm Bureau and had been clerk of the district school for many years.
Surviving is his wife Jessie, his son Lowell, daughters, Hope, Faith, Violet and Ruby, 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are 6 sisters, Anna, Hattie, Mary, Helen, Josephine and Laura.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife, twin daughters and 3 brothers.
