STONE, Douglas Smith, 88, of Montpelier, departed this life December 28, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Katherine McKenzie Stone; daughters, Karen Tatti (Bob) and Renee Stone; sons, Barry and Kevin Stone; grandchildren, Heather Sharpe, Katelyn and Garrett Tatti; sister, Barbara Stone Cocke (Jimmy). He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. Mr. Stone was a WWII Marine Corps veteran and a life time member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church. He was the last surviving charter member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery, in Ashland.
