Mrs. Jacquelyn Atkins, 88, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday Aug. 5, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Atkins was a lifelong member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church and a member of the Mary Ball Club. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Mary Washington College.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Norman; her daughter, Mrs. Sharon Washington Kohler, of Fredericksburg; and three grandchildren, Kathryn Lloyd Washington of Fredericksburg, Eleanor Washington Meyer and her husband, Joseph Bernardin Meyer, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Robert Wirt Washington IV of Fredericksburg.
She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Helen Virginia Meyer, Emory Nolan Meyer and Joseph Bernadin Meyer II, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, with Pastor Larry Lenow officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Jacquelyn's name to Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.
The family is being served by the staff of Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
