Karl E. Barnhizer, 80, of Milton, IN passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville.

He was born in Connersville on November 22, 1931 to Verlin and Lillie Smith Barnhizer and had lived in the Milton area most of his life. He was a 1949 graduate of Milton High Schoool and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from MEG in July 2004 after 29 years and was a farmer his whole life.

He was a member of Valley of Indy Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Whitewater Valley Scotish Rite Club, Shriners International, Milton Lodge #108 F&AM for over 50 years where he was a Past Master, Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post #169 and the Indiana Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Willa Mae Ferrenburg Barnhizer; daughters Karla (Charlie) Suttles, Karen (Gary) Longnecker; grandchildren Justin Brenner, Daniel Suttles and Tara Weilenman; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother William Vern (Mary Frances) Barnhizer; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Chaplain David Hogg Officiating. Burial will follow in Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 5:00 PM till 7:00PM where there will be masonic services by Milton Lodge at 7:00 PM
