WOMAN WHO RECENTLY
OBSERVED HER 99TH
BIRTHDAY SUCCUMBS
Funeral Rites Saturday
For Mrs. Arnold—Was
Born On Lake Road.
BARKER, May 29—The passing
of Mrs. Carrie M. Arnold, 99, one
of the oldest pioneer residents of
Niagara county and the town of
Somerset occurred yesterday at her
home in Pallister avenue, this village.
She had been in good health
up to within a week of her death
when her heart gradually began to
weaken. She was in full possession
of her faculties to the last.
On May 4 Mrs. Arnold celebrated
her 99th birthday, receiving
many callers as had been her custom
for many years. She was born
in 1831 in a log cabin on the Lake
road farm where she spent her entire
life until she took up her residence
in the village of Barker. She
was married to the late Edwin E.
Arnold, on October 31, 1854. Their
only child, a daughter, died in infancy.
Mrs. Arnold will be greatly missed
by many friends who have en-
joyed her friendship for so many
years. She was a member of the
Barker Methodist Episcopal church
and of the Women's Christian Temperance
Union.
The funeral will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late
residence, with the Rev. W. J. Harrington
officiating. Burial will be
in Somerset cemetery. The nearest
surviving relatives are two nephews,
Edwin E. Arnold and Louis P. Arnold,
Lake road, Barker.
