Esther D. Baker, 99
MARIETTA, Ohio -- Esther D. Baker, 99, formerly of Cornish, and Marlborough, N.H., died at Marietta Rehab. Center June 10, 2007.
She was born in Malden, Mass. and educated in Massachusetts schools. She was the widow of Edward E. Baker and mother of 8 children and 2 step-children.
Mrs. Baker was predeceased by a daughter, Marion Crowley; three sons, Robert F., Roger M., and David G. Sawyer; and two step-children, Alida Baker Carpenter and Robert Baker. Surviving are one son, Kenneth H. Sawyer of Chandler, Ariz.; three daughters, Laura S. Corson of Westwood, Mass., Marguerite Shepard, of Orlando, Fla. and Edith A. Vogt of Marietta, Ohio. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marjorie Perkins of Cornish; and a step-daughter-in-law, Louise Baker of Springvale. She was a loving grandmother to 25 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to several.
Esther was a devoted member of the Federated Church of Marlborough since 1956, where she devoting many hours to the Fellowship group. She was also a member of the Harmony Rebecca Lodge and a Grange member. Mrs. Baker enjoyed quilting and was an avid gardener.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007, at Neal & York Funeral Home, 12 High St., Porter. Pastor David L. Gilpatric will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Cornish
