Excerpts from email messages and message board postings from Donna Jo Bell Tidwell, 2007 and prior are included in the following bio.

My great great grandfather was George Donald Bell. He was buried in your family cemetery. He was born in Fort Bend County, TX in 1832. He died in DeWitt County, TX 14 Feb 1897.

He was a Civil War veteran, and there is a Civil War marker on his grave. I have a copy of his wife's widow's pension application. He was wounded at Shiloh in the eye with a mini ball. The pension application states that he served from 1861-1865 in CO. H 2nd Regiment, Texas Infantry.

He was first married to Mary Jane Edwards on 17 Apr 1856 in Austin County, TX. He was then married to Margaret Jane Brown on 20 Feb 1865 in Austin County, TX. He was then married to Mary Ann Bryant Stephens on 03 Jul 1872 in Navarro County, TX.

His parents were Joseph T. Bell and Catherine Jane Donnell, and they are shown in the 1850 and 1860 census listings for Austin County, TX. George went to Mexico after the Civil War with his wife who died there. He then came back to Texas with his two daughters.

He was my father's great grandfather (George Donald Bell to Joseph Washington Bell, to Joseph Neil Bell and then to my dad Joe Donald Bell and then to me, Donna Jo Bell Tidwell.) Almost all Jo's!

My great great grandmother was Mary Ann Bryant. She died 25 Sep 1922 in Henderson County, TX, and she was buried in Beck's Cemetery there.
