Amelia Larson was the oldest of five daughters born to John August Larson of Vallerstad, Östergötlands län, Sweden (1857-1898) and his wife, the former Josephine O. Brodd of Salina, Jefferson County, Iowa (1863-1938). When Amelia was about 14 years old, her father was accidentally killed when a gun he and his neighbors were testing discharged.

Her sisters were Esther C. (Larson) Amluxen (1884-1982), Minnie M. (Larson) Walters (born 1894 - ?), Minnie's twin, Mary Josephine (1894-1894), and Lillie (Larson) DeLauney (1896-1985).

Amelia was born September 16, 1884 in Des Moines County, Iowa, married Frank Robert Johnson (1879-1930) June 9, 1915, at Mediapolis (Iowa), and resided with her husband until his death in Burlington, Iowa. She then returned to Mediapolis, Iowa, and made her home with her mother, who died in 1938. Amelia, who had no children, died when nearly a century old at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Mrs. Amelia E. Johnson, 98, of 911 North Ninth, died at 6:47 p.m. Friday, October 22 (1982) at Burlington Care Center.

She was born September 16, 1884, in Des Moines County, to John and Josephine H. Brodd Larson. She married Frank Robert Johnson June 9, 1915, at Mediapolis. He died in 1930.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Burlington. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors, Hawkeye Natives and Senior Citizens.

Surviving: two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Esther) Amluxen, Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Lillie L. Delauney, Washington, D.C.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Prugh's Chapel, Dr. Raymond Reed; Kossuth Cemetery.
