|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
"In 1903, the cemetery was included within the area the federal government acquired for the construction of Fort Benjamin Harrison. The Army tried unsuccessfully several times to have the cemetery condemned and relocated, but failed. In 1997, the base was closed, and the area has been developed by expansion of the city of Lawrence. The cemetery is still open for burials."
"Presently (2004) the Secretary-Treasurer of the Cemetery Association is Mr. William J. Oberthur, 225 West 246th Street, Sheridan, IN 46069. The cemetery plat, surveys, and extant cemetery records are in his possession. A partial listing of the cemetery was published in The Hoosier Genealogist: Volume 43, pages 34-38(Spring 2003), pp. 103-105 (Summer 2005), pp. 165-167 (Fall 2003), [not seen] (Winter 2003), pp. 29-31(Spring 2004), and [not seen] Summer 2004."
"A commorative marker at the cemetery indicates it was originally the Thomas Silvey Cemetery."
