|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
From early records this is reported to be the earliest burial grounds in Brookfield. It was located on Old State Road, near the junction of Federal Road. The cemetery stood across the road from the "pest" house or Wildman House. It was reported that those with small pox were sent to this house and when they died, were buried across the road.
Sometime after the mid 1850's, Judge Samuel Sherman had only the stones removed to the northwest corner of Central Cemetery. No one knows the exact reason for moving the stones. It is possible that some stones were not moved, but because of the undergrowth, the exact location of this cemetery has yet to be located.
