|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Cokesbury was named for the first two bishops in America - Thomas Coke and Francis Asbury. The first church was built in 1784 on the present cemetery site. Later on, the log church was torn down and a new frame building was erected in its stead. In 1888, a third church was erected. On December 25, 1925, this church building burned to the ground when a few community boys lodged a fireball on the roof of the church. The present Cokesbury United Methodist Church was the fourth church erected. The new church building was completed and dedicated on the third Sunday of October 1926.
