|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This cemetery was formerly known as Peck Cemetery, as indicated in "History of Town of Newport 1806-1906." That volume states that it is located on the farm now owned by Henry Molineux (formerly Ward farm.) It was opened about 1830 and contains between 20 and 30 graves. The land now is used for a golf course, Honey Hill Country Club, which said they would "attempt to place upright whatever grave stones are remaining," and "maintain the ground around the cemetery in a condition far better than it was when we took over ownership of the land." The information about this cemetery was obtained from the Newport Historical Center, which has some correspondence on file regarding Pecks, Franklins, and Kelloggs buried there. During a visit to the cemetery on April 27, 2011, only 8 graves were found, and they were all either Franklins or Pecks. The graves were enclosed in a small stone wall, and it is likely that all of the graves were found. Davis Peck, thought to be buried here, is actually buried in Erie County PA and can be found as a link under Comfort's memorial.
