|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
St. John Cemetery is actually located in Erin Township, Washington County, Wisconsin. It is just north of the border between Waukesha and Washington Counties at the intersection of County Road K and Emerald Drive. It is attached to St. John's Catholic Church in Monches, Waukesha County. This church is today named Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish. Obituaries mention burial in Monches Cemetery and also Kinney's Acre. Monches was first named O'Connelsville and the congregation was first named St. John the Baptist.
The name Kinney's Acre came about, so the story goes, when an early settler, John Kinney, buried his son Phillip along the eastern edge of his farm. Thus began the St John's cemetery and also known as Kinney's Acre.
