|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This inactive cemetery is located next to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. At one time abandoned, it sits in a cleared woods lot that was at one time "the County Farm" The old Stoddard County Home (now a private residentual care) sits across Hwy 25 from the Stars & Stripes Museum & Library. Take the road between the Cemetery entrance & the Stars & Stripes (it is a dead end) about half way to the dead end look off through the field to your right at a wooded but mowed "old woods lot". There is only one stone in the middle of the trees (I tried to center the stone in the cemetery picture, you can bearly see it)
People who had no form of income lived, died & were buried at the County Home/Farm Cemetery if no one took claim of the body. I am also told that the first thing that happened upon a resident entering the home is that all there teeth were pulled. Appearantly this saved on dental bills.
As of May 2010 a memorial has been place with the names of those who are thought buried here.
