Edinburgh Hill Cemetery is located south of State Road 252 on 700E or Pleasant Street. It is now a part of the town of Edinburgh. It is north of Edinburgh School and behind Holy Trinity Catholic Church, next to the water tower. In 1932 only four stones standing on the hill west of Edinburgh. In 1972 three replacement stones were set in concrete and fenced. This hill was the site of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Townsend in 1820. Mrs. Townsent and Richard Connor died in September 1820. Mrs. Townsend and Richard Connor were buried on the hill along with other early settlers. Most were later moved to the Edinburg Burying Ground that later was renamed Rest Haven Cemetery. The Thompson plot still remains at the top of the hill and in 2000, in fairly good condition. Some small pieces of stone were located in a local resident's yard.
