|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Gibson Branch, Brushy Creek, off Rt. 194 between the Old McCoy Cabin and a brick house
Note: The Jackson children (Naomi/Naoma Jackson and her brother Madison Wayne Jackson) died first. John McCoy and his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Jackson McCoy died on the same day in 1872 and were buried by Naomi/Naoma Jackson and Madison Wayne Jackson (siblings), probably because the Jackson children were related to "Peggy" thru their father James Madison Jackson.
This McCoy Cemetery is behind the log house where John and Margaret Jackson McCoy lived until they both died the same day, September 8, 1872. It has only a few graves. For many years on the Sunday after the third Saturday in August, Big Branch Church moved its Sunday service to the cemetery.
The cemetery is now grown up and belongs to the ages, living only in the memories of those who attended church services and funerals there.
