|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Pleasant Hill Cemetery; Town of Franklin Cemetery; Plain Protestant Cemetery.
Location: SE 1/4 SW 1/4, Section 6, T9N, R4E, Town of Franklin, County of Sauk, State of Wisconsin.
The land for this cemetery was given by Solomon Cramer. Deed was dated July 4, 1869 and recorded in the Office of Register of Deeds on February 1, 1870. However, three burials are shown for 1857 and a number for the 1860s.
There are many broken markers in this cemetery, some are off their original foundations, many are heavily encrusted with lichen, thus making them especially difficult to read, and monuments are irregularly set.
The tombstone inscriptions were copied on October 14, 1975.
See "Cemetery Inscriptions of Sauk County, Wisconsin, Volume 6," compiled by Myrtle E. Cushing and other members of Wisconsin State Old Cemetery Society, 1985.
Page 35 describes the cemetery in detail; pages 35-39 lists the tombstone inscriptions.
