Property Owner's Permission Required
Family cemetery of Azariah Graves, some of his siblings and their descendants.
In the vicinity of
762 East Main Street
on the property of the Elijah Graves House. This site, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is not open to the public.
Established in 1837, the will of Azariah Graves 1776-1837 (Book N, page 59) shows that he selected the spot for the cemetery near his house and was the first to be buried there. Azariah Graves never married so he asked that his brothers and sisters be buried with him in the newly created family cemetery, if they desired.
In 1957 the first recorded survey was conducted for the Register of Deeds, J. Burch Blaylock. Recent photographic surveys were conducted in 2005 by Rick Frederick on behalf of the Caswell County Historical Association and Doris Neal Hodson West in 2009.
"Located 1 mile East of Yanceville on Highway No. 158 and 86 and being on the farm of Mrs. Mallie Graves, (Mrs. B.S. Graves)." (1957, J. Burch Blaylock, Register of Deeds, Caswell Co NC) JBB105
