|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The cemetery at "Ringfield" plantation was used from the late 1600s well into the 19th century. The property passed from John Underhill to Joseph Ring in the late 1600s. It remained in the Ring family for sometime. It was then inherited and sold many times over the next two centuries. There were several other surnames associated with this cemetery. Although there are only a few tombstones remaining, there are many more graves that lost the battle with time; At least seven obvious depressions found. The plantation home stood and was continually inhabited from the 1690s until 1912, when it was destroyed by fire. The area is located off of the Colonial Parkway on U S Naval Weapons Station property. Access is restricted.
