Cemetery notes and/or description:
This private cemetery is located on the campus of Notre Dame of Maryland University, on the Homeland Avenue, or north, side of the campus. The cemetery is surrounded by an decorative iron fence and is accessible from Homeland Avenue.
The spot was chosen by Mother M. Caroline Friess, SSND, Commissary General, on one of her visits to "Govanstowne." It is a small cemetery with mostly Sisters who ministered at Notre Dame of Maryland through the years. Three SSND Eastern Province Provincials are buried in it, as well as several priests and lay persons. There are only a few graves still remaining for burial.
