|English Prairie Road|
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Located on the south side of English Prairie Road about 3/4 of a mile east of Richardson Road. The cemetery acquired its name logically since the area was indeed settled primarily by Englishmen and was definitely a prairie. There are many stones remaining for burials going back as far as 1840 and bearing the names of early settlers in this neighborhood however it was not until 1860 that a cemetery association was formally organized to legalize the arrangement. At that time half an acre was obtained from Townsend Carpenter whose young son was buried here. A quarter acre adjoining that piece was acquired from Darius Kingsley.
