The cemetery was organized April 1, 1863. Located in the Village of Centerville - then called West Witoka - the cemetery holds over 600 burials. The first known burial was James Oliver Bramer, aged thirty-one, on May 10, 1861. Twenty-eight Civil War veterans are buried here including one Confederate soldier. There is also a grave (unmarked) of a veteran of the War of 1812. There are 670+ marked graves. This is still an active cemetery. (text by C. Kay)
