Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania that was established in 1927 by Saint Mary of
Czestochowa parish in New Kensington, PA. The Polish Parish, Saint Mary of
Czestochowa, was was founded in 1893. Up to the establishment of St Mary
Cemetery many of the parishioners were buried in the Polish section of Union
Cemetery (ID: 46527), Arnold, Westmorland County, Pennsylvania.
Close to 9,000 people are buried with the cemeterys 20 acres. Catholics from
other parishes and non catholics are are interred in the Cemetery. The Cemetery
has many interments of persons born in Poland. U. S. Veterans and military
casualties from the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War,
Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, military actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the
Dominican Expedition. Polish Veterans that served in the Polish military in
World War I and World War II are also buried in the cemetery.
The cemetery includes, a mausoleum, build in 1981 and chapel built in 1963.
In 1927 the cemetery was established under the leadership of Father Anthony
Baron, who is buried at the Cemetery. The first person to be buried in St. Mary
was Joseph Morton Kulick on 9 March 1927.
The cemetery is administered by St. Mary of Czestochowa church which is a
partner parish with St. Joesph and Mount Saint Peter all of New Kensington, PA.
