|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Location: ½ mile east of the intersection of SE California & SE 61st Streets, Topeka Township, Shawnee County, KS. Cemetery is located on the north side of SE 61st Street.
In July 1880 the Lynn Creek Cemetery Association was formed. The charter trustees were N.J. Taylor, I.M. Tevis, William U. Moffet, J. Alonzo Winder, Charles A. Thresher, J.S. Jordan, A. McQuiston, J.E. Steward and A.A. Dunlap.
Deaths listed prior to 1880 were most likely moved to the cemetery from James Stansfield’s farm which at one time had become a public burial area. When Mr. Stansfield sold his farm he reserved one acre for the cemetery. After approximately fifty people were buried in the cemetery it was found there was not enough land. The Lynn Creek Methodist Episcopal Church was built 1 ½ miles east of the cemetery. After some acreage swapping and land purchasing enough land was obtained to increase the cemetery to a little over 5 acres.
