|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The 18 & ¾ square rods of land for this cemetery was purchased on 5 Oct 1858 by John D. Hurlbutt. He was also buried in this cemetery soon after it was laid out. It is shaped like a trapezoid. The last remaining lot, no. 10 of approximately 27, was sold by the administrator of his estate on April 19, 1866.
Hurlbutt Cemetery is located on North Salem Road, Settler's Rock being the South West corner. The cemetery is bounded and runs parallel with Fair Lawn Cemetery on the North, (an active 2015 cemetery), Easterly by the roadway that runs through Titicus, Southerly by the slope at Titicus Cemetery and Westerly by North Salem Road.
It can be distinguished by a pathway that starts at Settler's Rock and runs between Hurlbutt and Fair Lawn on the North and several crypts built into the ground at the base of the slope.
The Cemetery can be accessed from Fair Lawn or Titicus. Although there is a barway in the stone wall the entry for Hurlbutt is not passable from the state Highway.
