Renko Old Cemetery is situated around the medieval stone church of Renko. The cemetery was established at the end of the 16th century. The church that is hallowed for Saint James is used as the cemetery chapel and it was built in the 1500's, exact point of time is unknown. But already in the early middle ages Saint James's sacrificial chapel was built by a sacrifial spring in the same area. The church has been a destination of pilgrimage from the very start.
In the cemetery there is an area for casket burials and another area for war heroes' graves. The memorial for the war heroes is by sculptor Urho Heinänen (*1895-†1977).
